For this documentary on cannabis legalization in Los Angeles, we were tasked with creating visuals to reinforce the storytelling and elevate the viewer's experience. Our goal was to capture the documentary's laid-back vibe by adding visual layers that immerse the audience in the journey of cannabis—from its historical roots to its cultural impact today.
Using a blend of live-action footage and hand-cut typography, we brought vivid stories to life through animation. This textured, handcrafted aesthetic helped to paint a more intimate and authentic picture of cannabis culture in Los Angeles, connecting viewers to the people and the movement behind legalization.
The Quest

Inspiration
We drew inspiration from the opening of Godfather of Harlem, incorporating its magazine cut-out style to shape the look and feel of our visuals throughout the documentary.
